| Guided Language Acquisition Design (Project GLAD) a model of professional development in the area of language acquisition and literacy. The strategies and model promote English language acquisition, academic achievement, and cross-cultural skills. Project GLAD develops metacognitive use of high level, academic language and literacy. It is an instructional model with clear, practical strategies promoting positive, effective interactions among students and between teachers and students

| Course Outcomes: | 1) Participants will have a better understanding of the real-time application of GLAD curriculum model and practical strategies for promoting academic language, literacy, and cross-cultural respect in a classroom setting as a result of observation. 2) GLAD is a highly successful structured immersion model of staff training for language acquisition. Teachers are trained to modify the delivery of instruction of students to promote academic language and literacy. 3) Participants will have created new relationship and increased network capacity with experienced teachers and trainers who can serve as strong peer mentors. |
