There are many free and open source software programs, similar to high-cost commercial programs, that schools and individuals can use at no cost with no strings attached. This workshop will provide an overview and experience with popular free/open source software that is used in classrooms around the world including:
- Open Office
- Audacity (Sound Recording and Editing)
- Scribus (Desktop Publishing)
- Tux Paint (K-3 drawing/art program)
- Firefox (Internet Browser)
- GIMP (Photo Editing)
This software is free to use and available for Macintosh, Windows and Linux computers. The class will also cover how to download, install and use the software (to an Introductory level).
