Goal: Provide an understanding of the First Steps in Mathematics resources and how to use them to enhance your professional judgment in the classroom. This course is intended for the end-user such as classroom teachers or coaches. First Steps in Mathematics:

  • Builds teachers’ understanding of mathematics
  • Introduces teachers to a developmental continuum of mathematical concepts
  • Identifies and corrects students’ mathematical misconceptions
  • Improves mathematical outcomes for all students

Additional Information:
If you have participated in ANY First Steps workshops (Number, Measurement, Facilitator), then this is for you. Two FOLLOW-UP sessions are planned for ALL First Steps in Math workshop participants. Please register here. If less than five people register, this workshop will be canceled. FOLLOW-UP dates are: October 7 and November 4. Future follow-up dates will be determined by the group.

3) Sample lessons and learning activities provide teachers with practical and simple ideas to support student's development.
